The Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s biggest conferences has been canceled due to the virus that has killed over 1,100 people.
GSMA, the mobile association that manages the annual event said, “The GSMA has canceled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.”
Organizers were wary of having a cancelation bill of about €100 million ($110 million) left to them.
The Barcelona-based annual congress usually attracts more than 100,000 people, including 5,000 to 6,000 Chinese participants.
But participation this year has been hit by the viral outbreak that has infected around 44,600 people.
